These are the rules for using Auralar. They are written to be read. If anything here is unclear, write to support@auralar.co and we will explain it in plainer words.

1. Who you are agreeing with
Auralar is operated by Auralar.co, registered in the Netherlands under KvK 93982690, at Schalk Burgerstraat 24, Tilburg, Netherlands. In this document “we” and “us” mean that business, and “you” means the person who created the household account.
These terms cover using the service. Buying a Premium subscription is covered by a separate document, the terms of sale, because the sale itself is made through Paddle rather than by us directly.
2. Your account and your household
An Auralar account belongs to a household, not to a person. It is created with one email address and one password, and everybody in the house uses the same account from whatever screens they have.
- You must be 18 or over to create an account.
- You are responsible for the email address and password on the account, and for the PINs set on it. Anybody who has them can change the calendar.
- If you think somebody else has got in, change the password and tell us.
- One household’s calendar is never shown to another. If you have more than one household on an account, they stay separate from each other too.
3. The people you add, including children
Auralar is designed so that the people in a household do not need accounts. You add them yourself, and what is stored about each one is a first name, a colour, optionally a PIN, and the chores and one-offs they have done.
Children do not sign up and are not our customers. A parent or guardian adds them, decides what is recorded, and can remove them at any time from Settings. By adding somebody to your household you confirm that you are entitled to do so — that you are their parent or guardian, or that they have agreed.
We do not ask for or want a child’s surname, date of birth, photograph, school, address or location, and the app gives you nowhere to put them.
4. What you may and may not do with it
Use it for your household. That is the whole of the permission we are giving, and it is not a limited one: as many screens, as many people and as many chores and one-offs as you like.
Please do not:
- resell it, rent it out, or run it as a service for other people;
- try to get at other households’ data, or at parts of the service you have not been given;
- take it apart in order to copy it, or strip out the parts that identify it as ours;
- attack it — flooding it with requests, probing it for holes, or putting anything into it that is meant to damage it or anybody using it;
- use it for anything illegal, or to harass, frighten or control somebody.
If you find a security problem, please tell us at support@auralar.co before you tell anybody else. We will not go after somebody who reports a genuine problem in good faith and gives us a reasonable chance to fix it.
5. What you put into it
Your appointments, your chores and one-offs, your people, your notes — all of it stays yours. We do not claim any ownership of it, we do not use it to advertise anything to you, and we do not sell it or give it to anybody who wants to profile your family.
We need a narrow permission to run the service at all: to store what you type, to show it back to your own screens, and to include it in backups. That permission exists for that purpose and ends when the data is deleted.
You are responsible for what you put in. Do not put other people’s personal information into it without a reason to, and remember that everybody in your household can see the whole calendar.
6. The free plan, and Premium
The calendar, the week planner, the people, the chores and one-offs, the points, the monthly goal and the achievements are free, with no time limit and no card. They are staying free: we will not move anything from the free plan into Premium, so nobody wakes up locked out of something they were using the day before.
Premium adds extras and is described on the Premium section of the home page. Everything about paying for it — the price, the free month, renewals, cancelling and refunds — is in the terms of sale.
7. Availability, and what happens when it breaks
We try to keep Auralar running all the time and we do not promise that it always will. It is a small service and things occasionally go wrong: a server restarts, an update has a bug, a network between you and us falls over.
What we do promise:
- we take backups, and we test that they restore;
- updates go to a preview copy first, not straight to your kitchen;
- if something we did loses your data, we will tell you plainly rather than hope you do not notice.
Auralar is a household organiser. Please do not rely on it for anything where a missed reminder is dangerous — medication times, medical appointments you cannot miss, or anything to do with somebody’s safety.
8. What we are and are not responsible for
We are responsible for the things a business is properly responsible for: death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, and anything else the law does not allow us to exclude. Nothing here takes those away, and nothing here takes away the rights you have as a consumer under Dutch and EU law.
Beyond that, and as far as the law allows: we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profit, or for a missed appointment or an undone chore. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the greater of what you paid us for Auralar in the twelve months before the problem, or €100.
9. Ending it — by you, or by us
You can stop using Auralar at any time. Deleting your household deletes everything in it, including for everybody else who was using it; that cannot be undone, and we will ask you to confirm before it happens.
We can suspend or close an account if it is being used to attack the service, to break the law, or to harm somebody. Except where the law or the seriousness of the problem prevents it, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right, and we will give you a way to get your data out.
10. Changes to these terms
We will change these terms occasionally — a new feature, a new legal requirement, or simply clearer wording. When something material changes we will say so on this page and, for anything that affects your rights or what you pay, email the address on the account before it takes effect. Carrying on using Auralar after that means the new terms apply.
11. Which law applies
Dutch law applies to these terms, and the courts of the Netherlands can hear a dispute about them. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the EU, this does not take away the protection of your own country’s consumer law, and you can bring a claim in your own country’s courts.
If something has gone wrong, please write to support@auralar.co first — a person reads it, and almost everything is a misunderstanding that an email fixes.
